october

it's raining outside & things are quiet in the café.
i'm happy to say that quiet afternoons are becoming very rare.
i feel so blessed and have been asking God why a lot lately.
...i'm still not sure of the answer,
but i know that it's for a reason and i better not waste His blessings.

i was talking with one of our regulars yesterday morning. this man has come to Christ in the past 3 months and is eager to know what God would have him do with the rest of his life.
he talked about how he lived 56 years without caring what God thought & wants to live the rest of his life doing what God really wants him to do.
i told him not to worry, 'cause when God wants something He'll make it pretty obvious.
i told him that in the mean time, just keep being eager about learning and growing about/in Him.
He will direct your paths.

i finished an awesome book yesterday...it's called
not only was it awesome because it's so intensely well written...
but it has challenged me in ways i didn't expect a work of fiction could.
(unless you count adventures in odyssey as a "work of fiction"...that's pretty much the role model for my entire life. outside the bible of course. ;] )

through the main character, Cori, i felt myself challenged by her doubts and struggles.
...you should probably go read the book yourself to know what i really mean.

it's october 1st!
i love october.
it's like the gateway to better weather and hot chocolate.
ain't nothing wrong with that!

one thing i don't like about october, then i'll go on an
"I LOVE AUTUMN SO MUCH I COULD SCREAM!" kind of rant:
...the october fest here in magdalena.
i'll give it this much - it's interesting and i'm sure if you've got a whole lotta friends to go to the festival with, there is probably parts of it that are super fun.
but year after year, we see more trashed streets and drunkards then we care for.
eh.
anywayyy...

I LOVE AUTUMN AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE WEATHER TO COOL DOWN SO I CAN PULL OUT MY COLLECTION OF SWEATERS, SCARVES & BERETS!

I LOVE THE ANTICIPATION OF WINTER AND THE WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS IT BRINGS.

I LOVE IT WHEN THE FIRE PLACE GETS LIT OUT AT CVE AND EVERYONE GATHERS 'ROUND ON SUNDAY AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS CHATTING OVER CHAI AND COFFEE.

*sigh*
there's even more i love about this time of year...
it all makes the unbearable heat of summer...bearable.

i'm excited for november...i feel like i'm cheating october by talking about november in this post...but there's a lot happening in november that i need to prepare for in october.
so it all makes sense.

november 1st: MARK YOUR CALENDERS 'cause the BurdaStyle Book is being released.
do to your local barnes & noble, tear that book off the shelves and flip around until you find the skirt section. then look for something blue & gray with the two words "Katie May" next to it.
exciting? yes.

november 2nd: Café Sed's first anniversary! this is the part i really need to prepare for in the weeks to come. it's gonna be a party! :D

then, of course, there's thanksgiving and all the wonderfulness that treks down from the states during that time. i'm not even gonna pretend not to be excited about seeing everyone that will be here for that week. ^_^

i just realized that i'm just typing as words come to me and this post is incredibly choppy.
and probably boring since i have no pictures to show you.
oops. sorry, guys!

ummm. my mind just stopped working.
the end.

"...but I know it's for a reason..." It sure is. And it's a pretty simple one. He loves you. He's delighted that he gets to call you daughter and you get to call him Daddy. That's all.
